UEFA, FIFA, the Premier League, and broadcasting corporations condemning the ‘big 6’ for “greed” and “selfishness” is incredibly rich (pardon the pun).

The Super League is as much a symptom of what’s wrong with modern football as it is the next level in the erosion of the game.
Football doesn’t work.

Ask Bury, Wimbledon, or Macclesfield fans if English football authorities act in the interests of fans and communities. Ask amateur clubs struggling to pay rent on pitches covered in mole hills if the grassroots are being properly funded and looked after.
Ask conference clubs trying to get more than two promotion places into the Football League. Ask fan-owned clubs trying to get fair wage caps and spending structures introduced in lower leagues. Ask supporters of beloved clubs being shafted by their owners for profit and fame.
Ask Football League clubs what happened when they tried to get the Premier League to help them stay afloat and keep people employed during the Covid crisis. Ask all us fans having to fork out hundreds of pounds on match tickets and hundreds more on TV subscription packages.
Remember when Liverpool and Spurs tried to use the furlough scheme?
All of these are just some examples of how the modern game is being so poorly ran, and taken to a place so far away from its origins.

English football is complicit in its own downfall.

And do we even need to get started on UEFA and FIFA? Seriously?
I’ve got limited sympathy too for the idea that players need to be kept out of it, that they “don’t need telling”, or that fans shouldn’t be targeting their clubs. Leeds are right to wear t-shirts tonight. Liverpool fans are right to be removing banners. Everyone needs to step up
