Human brains are not really built for social media feeds.

Take the Illusory Truth Effect: if you see something repeated enough times, it seems true. Research shows that this happens regardless of whether the thing being repeated is plausible or not, and even if you know better!
There is one proven approach that helps, but it doesn’t come naturally: train yourself to think like a fact checker for every idea you see on your timeline. You need to focus on accuracy when you first see new information, and do research on it then, before you see it a 2nd time.
