Being a hero; was tiring. It was a full time job which consumed you entirely. Personal life was now mixed with the overwhelming hero work heroes put up with every day of the week. Such thing as vacations were as rare as a flower blooming in winter. +
But one wouldn’t complain, since they chose to walk that path. A path that both Katsuki and Izuku loved. Three years since they graduated, and things have considerably changed. If they looked back to their first year at U.A, they would laugh at how easy it was back then.
With their growth, their relationship has also evolved in ways they would’ve never imagined. Already in top 10 on the hero charts, they stood alongside as true rivals and true friends, something that seemed impossible before.
Their goal was yet to be achieved, but they were getting there. Their names had already circulated all over Japan, tagging them as the wonder duo of U.A high; Dynamight and Deku. Everyone knew the bad temper of the blond and the sweet, kind and reassuring presence of the green boy
They didn’t understand how someone as sweet as Hero Deku could keep up with the angry hero Dynamight. Each time they were seen in public it was always a fun show to watch. Bakugo getting teased and annoyed by Deku who enjoyed every second of it. A loud, confusing relationship.
Even on interviews, they both didn’t deny that their relationship was the most complicated they’ve had, but that it was a strong and reassuring one for sure. That’s what the outside saw, but the inside of their life circle saw a whole different palette.
Every break now and then, some of them, class A graduates, would reunite and celebrate. The first year after graduation, Bakugo did not attend a single meeting until Deku talked him on it, on how it would be nice to feel like back in those days. Of course, the greenish boy was +
Right. The closest to Bakugo and Midoriya noticed their growth, feeling happy for them, specially since they each brought the best of the other even if they didn’t notice it often. The meetings became a regular every-day thing, forcing the blond to spend much more time with Deku.
The thing is; they already spent enough time together.

“Hey, Kacchan?” Izuku was once again hanging out in his apartment, reading the daily jump magazine.

“What.”

“Could I move in with you?”

“Huh??”
He remembers almost dropping his romantic novel on the floor at the sudden question.

“Could I move in with you?” He repeated himself as if the first one wasn’t enough shock.

“Why the fuck would you want to move in here?”

“Well, cuz, Idk.”

“What do you mean you don’t know?”
“Well, I already spend a lot of time here. Plus you’re the closest friend I got that lives next to my agency.”

“Round cheeks also lives near.”

“Yeah I know but... I don’t wanna make it awkward between her and Iida-kun. I will feel like an intruder.”

“Cuz’ you are.”
“Please? I can do chores!”

“Did you even ask anyone else before me?”

“Well, everyone’s pretty much already sharing an apartment. Kami and Sero-kun for example.”

“Well, tell them you can do the chores for them.” He said grinning.

“Mean.”
“Why don’t you just stay at your place idiot? It’s close, it’s spacious—“

“Yeah, but, if I really think about it, it would be nice to share a place with someone, don’t you think?” He rolled his eyes at the lonely puppy eyes Deku had on his face.

“Do whatever you want.”
And since then, they’ve been living together. Katsuki thought it wouldn’t be so bad since they went to different agencies and their schedules were never compatible, until the damn nerd joined his agency.

“Guess we’ll be seeing each other more often Kacchan!”

“I will kill you.”
Now he wasn’t relieved at all. The emotions that were tormenting him only became stronger now that all his days were included with a green eyed boy. Not only that, but the fucker had the audacity tell him they didn’t spend enough time together with sad puppy eyes, making his +
Heart ache.

“We live together dumbass, isn’t that enough?”

“I know, but still! Our schedules never match up! And you sleep so early~!”

“Shut up.”

“How about we go on dates!”
He remembers spitting some of his morning coffee on his brand new shirt at what the other had said.
“W-What?” He asked with disbelief, hopping it was his hearing problems.

“Dates! Little meetings that you do to spend time with friends!” He said with a disgusting smile on his face, passing him some tissues to clean up the mess HE did.

“Then just fucking call them meetings +
Dumbass, dates are for couples.”

“I know that Kacchan,”

“You sure?”

“Shush. Meetings just sound... Too formal. Plus, we both know it isn’t in /that/ way, so it’s fine! So? What do you say?”

“If you’ll stop bothering me, I’ll go on a fucking... /date/ with you. Now get ready+
Or you’ll be late for your meeting, /Deku/.”

“Crap, true. Ok then, I’ll pick you up at six then!”

“Hurry up dumbass.”

He tried ignoring the overwhelming happiness he felt that day, shaking his head to disperse his emotions. He had gotten into an alley with no escape.
Now, Deku and him had /dates/ every now and then, going to places they each enjoyed. Little breaks that they allowed themselves to have. With time, Katsuki had come to acknowledge his feelings towards Deku, but not accept them. Either way, he had already hit rock bottom.
He was now more aware of Deku’s scars, of his behaviour, likes and dislikes. He sucked at comforting people, but when it came to Izuku, he would be the best fucking therapy session Izuku had ever gone too. Constantly reassuring him that he is a good hero. A dumbass sometimes, but+
Good. The arguing concerning each other’s Health also became a daily thing.

Expressing their worries always ended in fights on how the other one was selfish and reckless, bringing more insults into the mix.

Those fights resorted in Katsuki ranting about Deku to his group+
And Deku searching comfort at the advices of Uraraka.

They both would not talk even when they were in the same room. They would maximum get mad for two days, and the next day Izuku would greet Bakugo with a small smile saying: “Goodmorning...” to which the blonde would +
Reply: “morning.” Problem solved.

Deku was now a need in Katsuki’s life. Izuku was no different. That whole /moving in together/ was just a way to keep the blond near him, fearing he might get away. He did not know what it would bring to him. They both denied it, but weren’t +
So slick about it. Every time Kacchan would buy a romantic novel, he would read it Sunday mornings. Izuku would just seat next to him, minding his business while playing with the blond’s hand. At first, Katsuki was shocked and scolded him to never do that again.
Regardless, Katsuki finally gave in. They would also cuddle during movie nights. Katsuki would sometimes ask him help with baking, messing around with the ingredients. Little things that made both their heats beat with joy. Sadly though, happy things don’t last long.
Deku had gotten in another nasty fight, decorating his left arm with an enormous scar that covered half of it. He remembers seating in the hospital room, waiting for Izuku to wake. When he did, he expected Bakugo to scream at him, yell him how stupid he was, but instead +
Kacchan only looked at him, pained, and left the room without a word. Izuku felt guilty, but he couldn’t help it. He had rescued hundreds of civilians, and like he had said before; if his death meant saving his city, he would do it. Since then, the nightmares and scenarios in+
Which Deku ends up ten feet underground haunt Katsuki. No matter how much he scolded him, how much he screamed at him, Deku would always ignore his worries and keep on destroying himself. Top 3 in the hero chart. More ambitious than ever.

Katsuki was tired.
He had finally acknowledged his feelings for the emerald boy, but knew it wouldn’t work out. Not when Izuku was /obsessed/ with his work. The only time when he would look at him, and /only/ him, was in their apartment, where he could use the excuse of not feeling well just so +
He could embrace his loved one without asking. Without seeming suspicious. Now he couldn’t even do that due to his broken ribs and delicate state.

“Sorry you have to do everything now Kacchan.” He watched as Katsuki finished washing the last dish of dinner.
“It’s fine.” That’s all he would say before he left the apartment to come back late at night from his night shifts that he had taken to replace the number 3.

Three weeks later, Izuku’s condition got better. He could now move, run and do weights, everything but hero work.
Regardless, Kacchan became cold towards him. Avoiding him, distancing himself.

“Kacchan.” He called from the living room.

“Hm?”

“Wanna go on a date? It’s been a while since our last one.”

“I’m still taking the nigh shifts. I won’t have the time.”

“I see. Good luck then.”
Katsuki just nodded, escaping from there.

Later that night, Katsuki was resting on top of a building, hearing steps behind him, prepared to fight.

“Heya Kacchan!” He sighed in relief at the sound of Deku’s voice, lowering his defences.

“You shouldn’t use your quirk idiot.”
“Don’t worry, I used the stairs.” He sat next to Katsuki, balancing his feet in the air.

“Lying shit.” He leaned on Izuku’s shoulder, looking over the city they protected day and night.

“Kacchan.”

“Mm?”
“I don’t want you to think gross of me, first of all. But recently— Actually, from quite a while if I’m being honest—“

“Shut up”

“What? But I haven’t—“

“Please, shut up.” His voice was low and trembling.

“Kacchan what’s—“ he shut his mouth as drops of water fell on his hand.
Katsuki didn’t want to hear it. He didn’t want those words to hunt him. He didn’t want any of that pain. /Fuck it/. He let himself cry in silence on Izuku’s shoulder, cursing at loud. Izuku just stayed silent, caressing Kacchan’s hand, leaving gentle kisses on his head.
Reassuring him that it was ok. They both slept in the same bed that night, tangled in each other’s arms.

The next day, Midoriya Izuku had passed away.
A battle had emerged in the mall Izuku was shopping in. As an instinct, he fought against evil, not fully recovered. As a consequence, his internal bleeding was his end of the road. The news quickly got out, until they reached Bakugo.
He didn’t remember anything from that day, as if he’s mind had blocked the words Denki said over the phone. He only remembers being at Deku’s funeral, staring as his casket went underground alongside his mother grave. That day, everyone cried, but he didn’t.
“I told him to stop being so impulsive. That one day it would get him killed. And like always, I was fucking right.” He said at the goodbye ceremony, getting criticized by his behaviour. He did not give a single fuck about what they thought. He didn’t care anymore.
For days, he locked himself in his apartment, looking at himself in the mirror. That day, Izuku was rushed to the hospital. Katsuki arrived not to long after, only to see Izuku’s missing arms.

“Please... Don’t let it die with me.”
He had now inherited One For All. The last thing Izuku had left him; an eternal curse.

He naturally became stronger, allowing him to score second place as hero. Nobody asked why his sudden strength since now their pillar was gone. Katsuki needed to fill in that gap now.
The only one who knew the truth was Kirishima. Katsuki gave it off to him by saying the nerd not only had Black whip, but also a quirk that allows you to pass it on to another person. He didn’t reveal One For All’s secret entirely. At least he hoped he didn’t.
He felt nauseas when Kirishima told that at least Midoriya left some of him behind, as if it were something good. It wasn’t. Deku had left him with what killed him; his dream to be the greatest hero.

It was a curse that would follow him till the end of his days.
Regardless, he continued to walk the same path.

Submerging himself in work, forgetting the scolding of Deku about how he should take care of his health. Soon enough, he became the number one hero in Japan. The great Hero Deku was not forgotten, but his presence was slowly +
Disappearing. Eleven years later, Katsuki still thinks about him. Never cried for him, but his mind was always filled with those green curls and those annoyingly cute freckles. Five years later, he was the greatest hero ever known.

At his speech, he would always include the +
The era of the Hero Deku, who accomplished a lot of things, and how he could’ve accomplished even more. That was his take on not letting the world forget him.

One day, a teenage girl had bumped into him while grocery shopping. The girl apologized multiple times, until she +
Recognized the man before her. Instead of screaming, claiming she is so lucky to meet him, she simply bowed to him.

“Dynamight, could I ask you a question?”

“Go on.”

“What was the Era of Deku like?”
For the first time in sixteen years, he cried the death of his childhood friend. He didn’t let out a single sound, but tears wouldn’t stop streaming down his face.

“He seemed like a nice person. I’m sorry for your lost.”
Later that day, Katsuki wasn’t able to stop crying. All his pain that was kept inside a box, all his regrets, his mourning, his feelings, all exploded at once. Deku wasn’t there anymore, but there was still someone who wanted to know who Deku really was. Who Izuku was.
“So, you’re interested in the Deku era, huh. “

“My mom was a fan, so she kept some recordings of his greatest victories. That’s when I saw you, Dynamight.”

“Bakugo is fine.”
“Were you guys close?”

“Why?”

“He called you a cute nickname. Almost all his interviews are filled with the name /Kacchan/“

He felt a weight on him at the sound of that name. It had been so long.

“The idiot was in love with me.”

“And were you?”

“I still am.”
He took in Saori Fujima as his pupil, training her and showing her the secret of his quirk. The girl didn’t idolize him, which somehow made things much more lighter. They weren’t identical at all, but he could see a little bit of Deku in her, they both had that spark.
“Before I give you One For All, let me tell you this. I don’t know what you’ll have to come against, neither if this power will curse you or bless you. Do you think you’re ready for the weight of all the predecessors?”

“Yes. I still have a long way to go, but I’ll try my best.”
That’s how the eleventh successor was chosen. Under BAKUGO’S supervision, Saori grew. Learned a lot more about victories and defeats and finally; about death. Bakugo Katsuki had passed away.

He was surrounded by flowers, the bright sun shining over him. He didn’t recognize the place, yet felt like he had been there before.

“Good morning Kacchan.”
