The sound is better this year and there are more cameras!
So far no meese. But I’m sure they will come soon.

The Great Elk Trek are also on Twitch. But it’s called The Great Moose Migration there.

The first sneaky moose have been spotted!
But it’s super sneaky and was really hard to spot.

The Great Moose Migration seems to be the new name in english for Älgvandringen.
They have been struggleing with technichal errors. Yesterday there were problems with the sound and this night the most important camera spot stopped working. There will be maintenance at 8:00 but I’m worried this will scare away any meese that is nearby.

The most important spot right now is of course ”Entrén”. That is the spot where the meese enters the area. And all of them have to pass there before visiting other spots and then hopefully swim.
Or turn around as most of them usually do.

Cold morning and lots of new thin ice has formed during the night. This crane is walking super careful though.

And the meese are here! Finally!

We (as in the nerds that follow this slow tv show) call these “stubbdjuren”. That would be “stump animals”.
We also think they come alive at night and start eating on the camera cables and that is the cause of the weird noises at night…

And we got two new meese.

Here is one from this morning. We think it’s a mum and that the other one is her daughter. Possibly same mum as last year at this time but that needs to be investigated.
I wish I could easily post a sound clip as well. There was a long-eared own and a common snipe making noises around midnight.

And of course I meant owl! (Not own)

And here is the sound from the common snipe. Love this sound which reminds me of a trip to Iceland when we stayed in a cabin on a mountain and there were common snipes around us making noise all night.

Did I harass the people at SVT to get me these direct links?
Yes, I might have done that.
Yes, I might have done that.

If there are meese in ”Entrén” right now? Yes, yes there are.

But also, one moose fell through the ice today.
It got up alright though but it did take a while. Super scary!

Morning!
There was an owl flying tonight but not sure which one.

Also the link to the clip with the owl flying that I posted earlier is most likely a long-eared owl. Pretty confident here after consulting ”experts”.

And these two turned around shortly after this. Maybe they felt bullied by the geese that swam close by?

The bonus area this year is ”the mire”. Most of the time there are Black grouses doing there courtship ritual. But sometimes you can also see other birds. Today we had cranes.
