🔰THREAD🔰

This week, my #anipoke thread is about Mythical Pokémon! Often grouped together with Legendary Pokémon, this distinct group of rare Pokémon have played a big role in the history of the anime, and this thread will highlight my favorite trivia about them!

🔽Let's Go!🔽
The first Mythical Pokémon was Mew, but it was far from the first ever Mythical Pokémon to appear in the anime.

In fact, SM42 "Alola, Kanto!" was the first episode that Mew ever physically appeared in the anime! #anipoke
Mew has been the star of multiple movies, but it's been nonexistent in the TV show until only very recently.

Here's a bonus piece of trivia about Mew: it's appearance in SM42 made it the last of the original 151 Pokémon to physically appear in the anime! #anipoke
In "Celebi: The Voice of the Forest," the Iron-Masked Marauder caught Celebi with a "Dark Ball," a special Pokéball that essentially turns the Pokémon inside it evil.

This led to "Dark Celebi" creating a giant, rampaging wooden monster made out of the surrounding forest #anipoke
The fourth movie was Celebi's introduction to the anime, and it played a very interesting role throughout the movie.

From seeing it in the past, to bringing together Ash and "Sam," to all of the craziness with Suicune and Dark Celebi... it was quite the adventure! #anipoke
Mythical Pokémon used to be such a rare sight in the anime that none were even seen for the first 428 episodes of the show.

It took until AG155 "The Green Guardian" for the first physical appearance of a Mythical Pokémon in the anime, when a Celebi was spotted in Kanto. #anipoke
AG155 was the first episode to feature a Pokémon Ranger character based off of the ones from the spin-off game series with the same name.

Pokémon Ranger may not have had the longest or more successful run, but it sure created some epic moments in the anime! #anipoke
In AG171, Pokémon Ranger Solana returned to the anime for another run-in with a Mythical Pokémon.

Solana mentioned how geomagnetic irregularities and the presence of a meteorite are in line with research findings from Professor Lund, a character from Destiny Deoxys. #anipoke
This kind of direct connection between movies and the TV show are very rare, and have only happened a handful of times throughout the anime.

Movie references are also rare in the games, but finding them make for very cool easter eggs! #anipoke
In Diamond and Pearl Episode 112 "Cheers on Castaway Isle!" Pikachu and Piplup get stranded on an island, and guess what else happened to be on the island? Deoxys!

This was another random cameo by a Legendary/Mythical Pokémon, but that was par for the course in DP. #anipoke
After having a starring role in the 7th Movie, Deoxys appeared in a two-part Pokémon Ranger arc, but it's been restricted to just cameos after that.

It's one of the most mysterious Pokémon ever, and you'll never know when it's going to show up in the anime! #anipoke
Phione made its only ever anime appearance in DP113, "Hold the Phione!" This episode featured an entire group of Phione, with one in particular taking an interest in Dawn's Buneary.

Other than this episode, Phione has never been seen in the anime. I wonder why? #anipoke
I guess I should mention that Phione's status as a Mythical Pokémon has been disputed over time, with various evidence for and against it being a Mythical Pokémon.

Personally, I consider Phione to be a Mythical Pokémon, but what do you think? #anipoke
At the end of the Sun and Moon series, each of Ash's classmates had different plans about what they planned on doing during their vacation.

Lana was going to leave with her father to conduct an ocean survey in search of Manaphy! I wonder if they ever found it? #anipoke
Manaphy is one of my favorite Mythical Pokémon ever. Its starring role in the 9th movie was awesome, and it's a shame it hasn't physically appeared in the anime outside of that.

Not only that, it's a fun Pokémon to obtain and use in the games! #anipoke
This is usually where I say "and that's it for my #anipoke thread this week," but this special thread on Mythical Pokémon will be two weeks long!

Next week, there will be facts on Pokémon such as Darkrai, Jirachi, Meltan, and many more!
