Just finished reading a journal titled “Less than Ten—Surgeons with amputated fingers”, published in 1982 and it’s glorious.
I especially love the optimistic tone of the writing compared to today’s hypersensitivity to ‘systemic’ solution.
I’m posting my highlights below.

1) Imagine saying “Handicap is a state of mind” nowadays. Oof.
We can always make the best out of our situation. Don’t bring the systemic problems into your solution plan. Make it personal. Solve it.

2) Excuse doesn’t always mean negative things
Your disadvantage may save you from disappointment. Aim higher. As the old adage said, a man’s reach should exceed his grasp.

3) Inconvenience does not equal hindrance.
I saw an Anti-fragile mindset here. The surgeons with an amputated finger gained an advantage from a disorder/chaos in their life.
Do you approve, @nntaleb?

4) Adaptability
Don’t lament over the injury. I’m gonna quote Forrest Gump here: shit happens. Find your motivation, bring the best fight to the ring.
