reported to @Centrelink and was told my next payment will be $0. I won’t get a cent not even rent assistance. Centrelink says it’s because of changes to the partner income threshold from 1 April. Govt spruiks “$50 increase” (actually $100 cut) but silent on this. how will I live?
This is so fucking cruel and unfair. The partner income test should be abolished. How many other people won’t get a cent now because of these cruel changes? This is outrageous. Poverty is a policy choice.
When I called @centrelink to query why I won’t get a cent the staff member was extremely rude, lacked empathy, told me everything is online, go to the website. When I asked her to explain exactly what the changes were, she couldn’t.
She kept placing me on hold, took about 20 mins to find some information, still couldn’t get precise info, huffed and puffed when I asked for an explanation and hung up on me when I asked to escalate the call.
I don’t know what I’m going to do. How can I afford to pay rent and bills and groceries and petrol and tolls and medical costs? What are we supposed to do now? @Anne_Ruston
Imagine if Labor, their supporters and the media cared as much about people forced into poverty as they do a CEO forced out of a job 😬
As I’ve said before, I’ve been going through a tough time recently. The government cutting off all my payments will only exacerbate things. The government is so fucking cruel and the opposition so fucking spineless.
