Do you remember when the @nytimes& #39; @mschwirtz, @EricSchmittNYT & @charlie_savage reported that "Russia Secretly Offered Afghan Militants Bounties to Kill US Troops?"
Thus amplifying leaks from *anonymous* American spooks.
Well, surprise, surprise, it wasn& #39;t true!

Yup, that& #39;s correct it was all bullsh*t.
"US intelligence walks back blockbuster & #39;Russian bounties& #39; claim."
But "Russian disinformation," etc. https://twitter.com/NoahShachtman/status/1382713472056709123?s=20">https://twitter.com/NoahShach...

Wrote about this last June when the @nytimes first "reported:"
"Fake story on Russians paying Afghans ‘bounty’ to kill Americans is the latest example of appalling US/UK media coverage of Russia."
Happens every damn time... just fancy that! https://www.rt.com/russia/493256-fake-afghan-tale-media-coverage/">https://www.rt.com/russia/49...

@nytimes coverage of Russia only has two tricks: it either rips-off articles from smaller Russian liberal outlets or regurgitates anonymous US spooks. None of this involves any reporting & it cannot be considered journalism under any accepted definition of the job description.

Superb piece on the fake "Russian bounties" story from Paul Robinson.
"New York Times ‘bounties’ non-story shows US/UK media has got so used to blaming Russia, it& #39;s basically now doing it out of habit. https://www.rt.com/russia/521500-afghanistan-bounties-nyt-fake/">https://www.rt.com/russia/52...
