Do you remember when the @nytimes' @mschwirtz, @EricSchmittNYT & @charlie_savage reported that "Russia Secretly Offered Afghan Militants Bounties to Kill US Troops?"

Thus amplifying leaks from *anonymous* American spooks.

Well, surprise, surprise, it wasn't true!
Yup, that's correct it was all bullsh*t.

"US intelligence walks back blockbuster 'Russian bounties' claim."

But "Russian disinformation," etc. https://twitter.com/NoahShachtman/status/1382713472056709123?s=20
@nytimes coverage of Russia only has two tricks: it either rips-off articles from smaller Russian liberal outlets or regurgitates anonymous US spooks. None of this involves any reporting & it cannot be considered journalism under any accepted definition of the job description.
молодец 👏

It seems @markgaleotti finally got something right about Russia. 🎉🥳

And he’s characteristically modest about his achievement
