My best advice if you want to build your own content platform up:

Make the content that interests you and that you have fun making. Ditch the rest. Truly.

Words are my thing so I write. I don’t care if video is the “big thing”.
The key to building platform is consistency. Not cleverness.

You need the things you’ll keep showing up for. Pick one or two. Enjoy them. Experiment. Have fun. And for heaven’s sake don’t take it so damned seriously.
I do Twitter and LinkedIn as my outposts, and I have my (needs to be updated) blog. I’m working on my book. Why?

Because I’m a writer. So I spend time where I can explore ideas with words.

That’s it. That’s the master strategy.
And? The part most people don’t want to hear:

I don’t show up as a “personal brand”. I show up as me. Just me. Crunchy bits and all.

Individual content creators thrive because of how they show up not just what they make. Remember that.
