I see the socialists are upset at Mike Rowe for daring the question the minimum wage. Show me a plumber who works for minimum wage. Not even an apprentice plumber works for minimum wage. Why? They are skilled jobs. McDonalds? It's starter job, not skilled labor.
It's called THE MARKET people. When I started washing dishes at 14 I made below min wage. Why? I was 14! I was earning the market wage for that job. When I wiped a woman's behind (during college), or washed dirty towels (YMCA) or worked as a life guard, I made low cont.
wages because I was working relatively low-skill jobs. Those low-wage jobs gave me an incentive to work my way through college, to make myself more attractive to employers. That's how a market economy works.
Who told these people that they're entitled to do whatever they will and get paid well for it? That's insane. People, get paid to do what others are willing to pay you to do. That's it. You're trading time/skill/labor for $.
It's a negotiation. Rowe is right to question to minimum wage. The higher it goes the fewer starter jobs there are. The goal is to get people into and out of starter jobs not to make starter jobs a life-long occupation. I'm not paying $10 for a McDonald's hamburger. I doubt
anyone else is either.

Markets are real. They do what they do. It's not an artifice. It's a reality.
