I find the common fascination with PT weirdly sycophantic. It's literally just a teaser for a game that will never exist. Please calm down. I get that so many of you people in the gaming space worship Kojima but you need to let go.
I dunno, as someone who has watched at least six full playthroughs of PT (because I could never possibly play it myself, I'm baby), it's not anywhere near as interesting, compelling, or even enjoyable as an actual Silent Hill game. PT hinges on cheap thrills and jumpscares -
and while it's technically impressive, it doesn't offer a whole lot more than that. Because why should it? It's a fucking teaser. It's not a full game. I understand putting PT on a pedastal as a "what could have been" sort of thing, but at the end of the day you -
have to let go and look to people who are actually making the things that you want to see in games. Like, for example, Red Candle. Devotion is obviously inspired by PT but doesn't just rip it and Silent Hill off wholecloth like Bloober Team's games do.
I think, looking back, PT will be a game that everyone can point to as an event that set horror games back another decade and once again made them an unending ouroboros of recursive reference and imitation.
