“In Florida transgender youth have been playing in team sports since 2013 without incident. This bill would take effect July 1, 2021... Will they be allowed to compete through the season? What type of humiliation will they be subject to during the implementation of this bill?”
“So what I’m hearing is that you would LIKE the FHSAA to be grandfathered in through the end of the academic year, but then they should expect to see a notification from the DOE, the school principal saying that we’re sorry but you’re not welcome to play here anymore.”
“What about the bill makes it so important to expel trans kids while at the same time knowing we could be the subject of a boycott that loses jobs and cancels 75 championships in the state of Florida that’s being threatened?”
“Have you asked committee staff to perhaps do a new fiscal impact on your bill now that we know that we are going to lose 75 championships so that we as members can fully understand the economic consequences of your bill should it pass into law?”
@micheleforfl: “Exactly who under your bill can dispute a student’s gender identity? Is it students? Is it parents?”

Sponsor says her intent was to mirror FHSAA and that students can bring forward disputes.
@AnnaForFlorida: “I’ve heard in the conversation in your introduction that this is about ensuring fairness specifically in scholarships... how many transgender athletes in Florida or nationally have receive scholarships to Florida universities specifically?”

Sponsor says NONE.
