Thoughtful thread. "Regulatory nationalism" is definitely becoming a worrying thing.

I have learned over many years of interaction with medicines regulators to have great respect for their thoroughness and their ability to ask the really tough but simple questions.

And regulators bring in outside experts from academia and also participate in round tables with industry experts.

There are so many aweful takes out there criticising regulators and health authorisies for undermining vaccine programmes.

Is the alternative of hiding information sbour dangerous side effects from th public ?

And the evidence suggests the opposite. Look at increasing utilisation of AZ vaccine in France. Is this despite or because of regularly focus on ensuring safety?

I have seen time and time again regulators being right and academic doctors wrong. Some people really ought to know better.

Those who accuse medicines regulators of scaremongering are undermining confidence in the people whose job it is to keep us safe.
