How I would go about getting placements as a young producer today...

This won’t be an exhaustive list but it should be a good start
Build within your community, find other musicians in your area making music and go make music with them.

Bonus points if they’re your friends, you will be able to be more natural and vulnerable when creating
Look at genius and Spotify credits find the small producers that don’t have big followings and reach out to them and ask them want they need.

Don’t just dump them a bunch of beats.
Research smaller A&Rs trying to make a name for themselves.

Look at their socials, what’re they sharing? Who are the listening to?

Ask them how you can help them before asking them to help you.
Learn how to do more than just make beats.

I know kids who make cover art and then use that as a lane to get their beats heard.
Don’t go chasing waterfalls.

If you’re small, start small and work your way up.

Work with everyone, create unique stuff that the world hasn’t heard before.
If someone doesn’t respond don’t get discouraged.

If they haven’t responded after 3 emails move on with your life.

Spamming producers makes you seem desperate even if you’re not.
Play the long game. Most people that get wealthy in music make the most music not the most numbers 1’s.
Stop chasing bullshit clout.

Jewelry doesn’t matter. Cars don’t matter.

The only thing that matters is the music.
Be transparent in all your dealings.

The trustworthy folks usually find a way to work together and those are the people who you want to work with.

People who aren’t transparent you cut them out of your life completely. If they screw you once they will do it again.
Do live cook-ups, use Instagram reels, use tiktok that’s where the kids are.

Kids are the ones who will be listening to your music.

Go where they are.
Stop trying to be “cool” just be you.

If you’re weird be weird.

Don’t put yourself in a box.

Your art expression can be anything. If people don’t like it so what. That’s subjective.
