Kyo is absolutely such an amazing character in fruits basket. His story as well as his character development throughout the series is so profound it is bound to make you have an emotional connection to him.
All his life, Kyo has been shunned by his own parents as well as the Sohma clan. Everyone was afraid of him, discriminated against him, and wanted to lock him away from normal society.
Kyo’s own mother k!lled herself because she could never come to accept Kyo’s transformation into his ‘curse.’ His own mother neglected him when she should’ve been the one to give him all the love in the world.
Tohru impacted Kyo’s life on such a deep level in which she accepted him for he is, transforming and all. All his torment, anger, and repressed feelings were let loose when he fell into her arms, finally feeling acceptance and love that no one was able to give him.
We can’t forget KAZUMA SOHMA. This man is the best father figure on this planet. He took Kyo in and taught him everything he knows. WE STAN THIS MAN.
Finally, despite Kyo going through a tremendous amount of trifles in his life, he still smiles and spends time around people, knowing how he has been treated since birth.
