My fourth book, The Hit List, is out in paperback on Thursday in the UK. Some readers and friends have asked how to help support authors on publication so I've had a little think, and here are some suggestions...
1. Add it to Goodreads as a ‘want to read’ (people who follow your reviews will see it and hopefully check it out themselves).
2. Ask your local bookshop to order a copy for you if they don’t stock it. Or if you want to buy online but want to support independent stores, look at https://uk.bookshop.org
3. Rate and review it when you have finished - not just on Goodreads but Amazon and Waterstones etc too (unless you hate it, in which case just avoid our eyes forever and never mention it).
4. Borrow it from the library or ask your local library to consider ordering it if they do not have it. (Authors love our books being borrowed, and we do still get a little money from it thanks to the brilliant work of the @PLR_UK.)
5. Like and share our social media posts, it doesn’t matter how many followers you have, it’s really lovely and helpful.
6. Post about it on your own social media accounts. Photos of the cover, favourite lines, anything, it all helps.
7. If you’re a member of a book club, suggest it as your next read. And lots of authors (including me) are happy to join on Zoom for a chat if that's your bag.
8. Word of mouth! Tell people! If you know someone who loves thrillers, for example
, perhaps you could tell them about The Hit List…
