Transitions and Parallels
-A Thread on 86 first chapter and episode 1-
One thing I noticed being brought up about 86 (both anime and novel) is how they transition. The first novel can have at points sudden shifts from the Spearheads to Lena while in 3rd person. Meanwhile in the anime they cut back and forth betweens these two. I& #39;ve seen a few
commenting on them, but didn& #39;t much of them until last night. So I decided to post my analysis on what makes the shifts interesting.

86 at it& #39;s heart is a story about two sides (the rich of society who benefit and the poor of society who suffer) through war. Something that stuck
our from the anime was an original scene of seeing both Lena and Shin getting ready for the day. This illustrates they are both people regardless of status and genes. I noticed how with the novel there were scenes from the first two chapters presented as a way of showcasing
the differences in lifestyle. For example Lena eating with her mom and friend showcased how conversation is stiffed and how narrow topics are. It also showcases how much fresh ingredients are considered a privilege. Meanwhile, when the Spearheads eat, they are more likely with
warmth and non stop chatter. Lena has everything she could want, but no support nest so to speak. But the Spearheads feel like a genuine group of people. These are just a few examples and there are others I didn& #39;t even mention yet.

As for why these are important for transitions
, it& #39;s because both sides of the war are happening at the same time. Seeing these shifts is what fleshes out the cast and can showcase how much things run parallel. Plus I like how this at times shifts the tones. It makes the series come to life and that is a beauty.
Thanks for reading my thread. If anyone has any advice lkm. I& #39;m glad to have made this thread!
