Iight so if i studied up on my new COVID regulations properly NY is allowed up to a 10% COVID charge, this fee is less than 10%.

But as a consumer you are allowed to ask them to take it off if it bothers you that much, same with AUTO GRAT that is ILLEGAL IN THE STATE OF NY. https://twitter.com/kuwalis/status/1381762932820877316
I feel like i remind y’all once every 6 months about restaurant fees and AUTOGRAT, what your actual rights are but yall still complain.

i put y’all onto game, y’all don’t listen that’s on you.
So i read some more of the responses to this, #1 the idea of 10% COVID surcharge was to increase money for restaurants who had to comply w/new COVID regulations that whole outdoor/indoor dinning crap & the fact that they aren’t full capacity to generate income to stay open.
The up-to 10% COVID surcharge is a choice per restaurant owner not an obligation which doesn’t make it an obligation for you as a consumer to pay either.
#2 not all or just any restaurant can charge up-to 10% covid surcharge franchises with 15+ locations are legally not allowed. It’s for the smaller restaurants to try to help them.
Also, y’all wanna be outside that bad right!? the fee is to attempt to help that restaurant from shutting down so you have an outside to go to, but again if that surcharge is an issue to you kindly ask the restaurant to take it off Legally they should or they can be fined.
