Hello #WritingCommunity!

@jaime_dill here. I can never enjoy music with editing because the lyrics are so distracting, but sometimes I REALLY need some sound to cover up house noise. So I've come to love ambient sounds that mimic cozy settings. Here's a thread with my FAVS!

First up, we have Rivendale from Tolkein's Middle Earth. This is PERFECT for all my fantasy client work. The birds and gentle water are my favorite part. I could edit in this world forever.

Next rec for fantasy is this Taverns compilation from Skyrim. I love this sound when I'm editing scenes that feature a lively market, a town stroll, a bar meet up - anything that goes well with a calm, folk setting.

Okay, let's switch this up to Sci-fi. For this, I gotta have this Tony Stark Workshop mix, particularly if the sci-fi has that high intensity action. The whirs of the robotics in the background are the perfect detail.

Or, if we're being more futuristic, I like this CityScape of Mars Base Alpha-1. My entire body feels suspended in another ether when I listen to this. It transports me more than any other track in my playlist.

Maybe your story isn't quite so genre heavy and you want some general sounds to mimic being in a coffee shop. There are a ton with lovely rain and jazz, but I prefer this London Books one for the clinking dishes and chatter.

Or, for less cozy and more rowdy, check out this bustling Irish pub. Fair warning though, it is very robust and only works for those who find inspiration in chaotic surroundings.

And for all my Jane Austen fans out there - here you go boo. Pride and Prejudice all day long.

I'll wrap up with two more. This one is a calm Japanese village that brings me a lot of serenity. I would recommend for anime writers, though I will say it's maybe a bit too relaxing for fighting scenes.
