I'll discuss the pros, cons, and differences between those 2.
It's an opinion piece and I'm trying to approach these points from a branding & marketing pov:
- Branding
- Community
- Gratification

Branding Sub-Punk
The guidelines are predefined. Although, you can differentiate your execution and even carry the idea into another dimension. 3D, 2D, texture, and so on.
But branding options and learning opportunities are limited.
Fast, established, and fun.

Branding Non-Punk
You have to define your guidelines and rules. You need to build the brand, tone of voice, visual language, and strategy.
It can be risky and slow, but learning opportunities are abundant.
Slow, risky, and rewarding.

Community Sub-Punk
Sub-punk art comes with existing demand and audience. It gives you a kickstart. But remember, this audience is borrowed from Cryptopunks.
90% of the time, you'll remain as a sub-brand.
IMO, winner in the short-term but not an ideal long-term plan.

Community Non-Punk
You need to hustle, find your audience, and build up interest from ground zero. You can build it faster by picking a pop-niche and idea.
In the end, you'll own your community.
IMO, more suitable and rewarding in the long term. Plus more satisfying.

Gratification
Both sides have their own advantages.
Sub-punks is satisfactory because the sense of progress, money and followers come faster.
Non-punks journey can be mentally more challenging and but could teach the artist more about brand-building and marketing.

Gratification / 2
IMO, expressing yourself with art + your area of interest is the best combination if you want this long-term.
Because you can only innovate and progress with what you love

My intention by writing this thread is to create a healthy discussion among the artists.
Also, I intend to share my opinions with newcomers and new artists in the space.
I'm aware that punkverse enables the majority of NFT economy and space
And I respect artists and art
