If you don't understand polyamory/ambiamory that sucks and all, I mean you don't have to practice it but ffs don't act like I'm incapable of commitment or I don't really love people like I say I do. When I start loving person B doesn't mean I've stopped loving person A.
I want to give all the love I can so I can do poly relationships but I also don't want to force that on a monogamous partner so I can commit to a monogamous relationship if that's what my partner really wants. Just understand it won't stop me from having crushes on other people.
Key word "having", not "pursuing". I don't act on them if I'm in a monogamous relationship. I'll think other people are cute or cool but the person I'm committed to always comes first. Their needs outweigh those little crushes and I do NOT resent them for that.
When I agree to a relationship I do it knowing that my partner's needs and wants matter too and that if I can't handle that then I have no business dating them. I can not hold something I agreed to against them. It's selfish and unfair.
There's always that ONE poly person who thinks every monogamous person is just possessive and insecure and that the monogamous person is an asshole for not being comfortable with practicing polyamory.
But sometimes different things work for different people and that's how it is.
And ofc there's no shortage of monogamous people who think poly/ambiamory is just commitment issues. Out of all my relationships I have not cheated once. Even in the relationships I knew my partner was cheating on me and I could've done it to get back at them.
I love pizza. I love mozzarella sticks. I love grilled cheese. They all have something about them I love. Discovering I loved another food didn't change my love for the other foods. I'm not like "wow grilled cheese is great, I'm never eating pizza again".
It's like that with people. There are so many different people I'm able to love. My love for one doesn't affect my love for another. It's all there.
