HQ Gojo Satoru official character reference sheets for the Jujutsu Kaisen anime
http://sculptors.jp/topics/2219
these Gojo reference sheets were shared officially in an interview with the director in charge of the Gojo Satoru Shibuya Scramble 1/7 scale figure. they were given reference sheets to help make sure Gojo's figure was faithful to his design.
director of Gojo's scale figure: we didn't have any references of naked Gojo so we used the anime references and discussed how much muscle Gojo would have. if you look at the figure from below, you can see his belly....we specifically asked the sculptor to make his abs defined.
director Mikake: the face is the most important part of a figure so took anime reference materials from the publisher and told the sculptor to make it look exactly like the anime. Gojo's eyes were adjusted to make eye contact when looking at him from the front.
Mikake-san: Gojo's kind of crazy, like when he battles [REDACTED], gets hit by [REDCATED], does his [REDCATED] so we wanted to bring forth his brand of crazy strength. the length of his tongue took some trial and error to be faithful to his tongue in the original illustration.
Mikake-san: the effects, his face, and hands were the most important when it came to the paint and colors. dark blue for his terrifying strength and Infinite Void. face was painted like in the anime. hands were painted with multiple shades to make them appear strong and 3D.
Mikake-san: we were very particular about modeling Gojo's hands and sent a ton of reference shots of Gojo in the anime, and a LOT of close-ups of Gojo's hands (laughs) like when he takes off his blindfold and uses his cursed techniques.
Mikake-san: we wanted to convey the silhouette of Gojo's muscles even through his clothes so we were very particular about the wrinkles and texture of his clothes, how to paint them, and how the light would reflect off them properly.
Mikake-san: I think Gojo's belly button is the part I want everyone to see most. we also went through lots of changes for his hair. we wanted more movement and detail. movement is an important part of the appeal of Jujutsu Kaisen so we kept that in mind while creating this figure
