The Underrated Legend~ László Kubala

[Thread]
László Kubala is a Hungarian forward who stood out for his outstanding goal scoring ability. At Barcelona, he won 4 Spanish League's, 5 Spanish Cups, 1 Latin Cup, 2 Fairs Cups, 1 Eva Duarte Cup and 1 Martini Cup. He was voted as the best player in the club's history in 1999.
He was revolutionary, introducing new features (at the time) like curling the ball and protecting the ball with the body. Kubala 'temporarily' retired in 1961 (will detail more later), ending an 11-Year Stay at Barcelona, consisting of 256 official games.
Fun Fact #1: Kubala was good friends with Di Stefano and Barcelona hoped to be able to get both of them, but Di Stefano ended up signing for Real Madrid
He managed to score 194 goals in 256 games for Barcelona, an incredible amount, with his highest goal scoring season coming in 1951/52, his second season at the club, in which he scored 39 goals. His boots can be found in the FC Barcelona Museum. He also has a statue in Barcelona
Fun Fact #2: In 1955, Kubala starred in a Spanish film called 'Los Ases Buscan La Paz' (The Aces Looking For Peace). It narrated Kubala's escape from communist Hungary
Now back to the temporary retirement. Kubala 'retired' in 1961 and instantly became head coach of Barcelona from 1961-1963. After that, he went out of retirement, and became a player-manager at Espanyol from 1963-1965. (1/2)
After that he had a period at Swiss club Zurich, yet again, as player-manager, and then a period solely as a player at Toronto Falcons in 1967, although he managed the Canadian club a year after that, in 1968.
Final Fun Fact: His 194 goals scored for Barcelona make him the club's 4th highest goal scorer ever, behind just Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Cesar Rodriguez. Criminally Underrated.
Kubala was a world class player, and had an incredible career. He is undoubtedly a footballing great, and very underrated as a player. He was a major reason Les Corts (Barcelona's stadium at the time) was packed with supporters constantly. He was an idol to almost all Barca fans.
