I'd like to discuss burnout and s*x work for a moment. Now as this is a client facing account, every inch of me is telling myself not to post this.

But this is important and I am human after all.

So here goes.. A thread

Some people believe s*x work is easy money. Just lay on your back and get paid right?

There are clients who are succinct and polite and don't push boundaries, they make the work "easier", bearable and may I say even enjoyable. So thank you very much to them!

S*x work is far from just laying down. (especially indie SW) It's the ads you put so much effort into writing. The photos you take to prove who you are. The hours of unpaid admin and answering the same old questions again and again because someone chose not to read.

The stream of texts that make you feel like you're pulling teeth
"hi"
"hey baby"
"avail now"
"r u coming to X city"
"now?"
"how much"
"photos real?"
And all the constant back and forth messages from people who refuse to answer simple questions like "what is your name?"

It's easy for fellow workers to say "ah just ignore them" or "reply anyway, you never know". That's easy when you're not worn down.

Sometimes it feels like the stupidity of enquires is never ending and this is when you know you've hit burnout.

(Cue some asshole telling me I should change careers - that's not necessary ) Because it doesn't always feel like this. Most of the time I like my work.

So at the end of the month I'm taking 3 weeks off. Time to myself.

I guess I also wanted to share this, in case you're reading this and you're also a SW who is burnt out. You're not alone. We all have shit days/weeks. Only a robot would be unaffected. Take some time out
