🚨 WE ARE LIVE with our first #AdvocacyToAction webinar.

Keep you 👀 peeled on our channels for live updates from our speakers...
Jessica Crofts-Lawrence, IAPB's Head of Policy and Advocacy asks our first speaker, @CarolineBinc, what motivates her:

"What motivates me is that we are at this extraordinary moment in our history where we can eradicate the disability inclusion crisis that exists"
@CarolineBinc went onto explain the importance of civil society creating partnerships with governments and business to accelerate advocacy efforts:

"An inclusive business system and fair business system will create a fair and equal society"
Founder of @Valuable500, @CarolineBinc concluded

"There are a billion people who could see. There is a solution and it is possible. The only thing that gets in the way is intention and will. Let's be unapologetically confident that we have the solution."

Next up is @brandonahtong, Head of Policy and Advocacy at @FredHollows.

Brandon explains that how we speak about the problem of eye health directly influences the solutions available to us.

👍 Stay tuned to hear how Brandon believes we should frame the problem of eye health...
Brandon believes that to promote advocacy efforts, the sector needs to focus on two key facts:

1 There are 1.1 billion people living with vision impairment of blindness that could have been prevented

2 This number will double by 2050 without urgent action

@FredHollows
Brandon concluded that the 4 key concepts around eye health advocacy are:

👀 Eye health needs to be part of UHC; it needs to be integrated and people-centred; progress needs to be monitored against global progress; it needs to be part of the mainstream agenda to achieve SDGS
Elise Moo, also from @FredHollows shared show she believes that

🤝🏼 "We are stronger and more effective in our advocacy efforts when we coordinate, share learnings and present a united front to government and business"

#AdvocacyToAction
In our panel discussion, Joerg Jenewein of @Novartis spoke to the importance of collaboration:

"We need to work together in hassling the governments to make eye care a priority. If we continue to separate ourselves and our messaging it will only make us weak"

#AdvocacyToAction
Panel host, Jess Crofts-Lawrence, asks the panellists for their 'elevator pitch' for convincing someone to prioritise and invest in eye health.

Keep your 👀 on this thread to hear what the panellists pitched...
Joerg Jenewein from @Novartis said:

"Vision is an important part of a person's life throughout the course of their life. It can never be left unaccounted for. Politicians and decision-makers must include this in their thinking"
