Apparently it is #MyTwitterAnniversary . 12 years since I joined Twitter and therefore just over a decade since I started using this platform to share, learn and discuss. I think it would do many well to remember why many are on here and how positive edutwitter really can be...
So to ensure I sound really bloody old, back in the good old days, I used edutwitter to join in with @ukedchat on a Thursday to discuss latest issues. I also used it to find out about @pedagoo events and organise how to travel to them with strangers like @davidfawcett27...
I would also use it to share some crazy things I did with my classes every Friday and to be inspired by others via the #pedagoofriday

I don't remember seeing many arguments or cruel comments a decade ago. Instead, we used the platform to invite incredible speakers to #TLT13!
It also allowed me to learn more about my own craft and to talk at some lovely teachmeets as well as attend those in Southampton, London and Bristol. Dragging @siancumming1 half way across the country one night to meet @vicgoddard at one such event was a highlight.
It allowed me to share my own thoughts through a blog which in turn helped me to write a book years later. I learnt of @researchED1
and was further inspired to find out more which pushed me to improve my own and others' practice further.
And most importantly I made many real life connections with incredible teachers including @Debsgf @hgaldinoshea @HuntingEnglish @AlwaysLearnWeb @johntomsett @lisajaneashes and many many more. Edutwitter can be the most amazing and supportive place.
Most people rightly simply want to join a discussion, share ideas and to dip in and out of the platform when needed. It can still offer many opportunities and it would be lovely to see more kindness, friendly discussion & even more sharing over the next decade! #Iamold
