This was the exact moment that I no longer disliked him. This was the moment where I knew I'm going all the way for this particular character.

I'm gonna sound annoying, but I'd like to talk about my experience with Childe in the game.

The first time I saw him, I had absolutely zero interest in him. Like I only care about seeing Zhongli and enjoying the game. At some points, I even thought he's annoying as hell and wouldn't prefer to see him on screen.

I hyped up about seeing the other characters in the game, but when it came to Childe, it's just a no.

Things got worse when he stole the pity I saved for Zhongli's banner.

I hated him so much that I benched him for a few days and left him with leftover artifacts from AR15 and a Lv. 1 3* bow. Mf nearly cried when seeing a gold comet fell and "Tartaglia" was on the screen.

That mf was me.

I think the changes in the party came through when I had to farm Pyro Flower for Xiangling. At the time, I knew Fischl and Barbara couldn't do enough for a quick, repetitive farming of the said boss.

So I said, why not put this boy to a good use? A 5* should be able to do it.

Bear in mind that I was both Xiangling and Fischl main, so using archer wasn't a difficult thing for me to do.

I had mats to level up Childe, and at the time Fischl was using Skyward Harp so I gave Sharpshooter's Oath to him.

I had Ningguang, Fischl, Barbara and Childe to farm Pyro mats. And I'd have to say, it's so easy to main as Childe. I adjusted to his playstyle well.

I still disliked his character but hey, he's a good damage dealer, so why not utilize his potential.

Then Zhongli's banner came in, and I summoned the man using Childe at Cloud Retainer's place. It's quite hard, but he did came home with Diluc and Qiqi.

The more I main Childe, the more I grew fonder of him, so eventually Fischl took the backseat and passed Skyward Harp to him. This might sound dramatic, but holy hell, the moment I got Harp on him he just...deleted everything.

Everything can be solved with him.

So I thought, yea, let's invest more to this one. Make him carry the team. Soon Ningguang was benched, as well as Xiangling because apparently, he's wilder as DPS with Fischl compared to the previous two.

Then came in the quest, just when I got too comfortable with him.

And that particular scene just got me. If I was him and my little brother was being annoying, I'd left his ass. But Childe just...so mf-ing patient, man. The level of patience this man has just astounding.

Probably because of years taking care of his siblings, but still.

From that point, and how he was shown like he's close to dying, my thoughts about disliking him just went away.

"When you make a promise, you better make sure you keep it."

Bih when I tell you I almost cried seeing him so helpless, and not to mention we fought the Ruin Guards before that scene with the time running out.

But anyway, he didn't die. Just...looking like me when I got low iron. Ahahahah

And from then on, not to mention looking over his chemistry with Zhongli both in the story and in battles, I just fell in love with him. Like suddenly he's the most interesting character, lore and mechanic-wise.

Zhongli who?

I liked him a lot that I was willing to spend about 50 resins just to get him a proper set, even though he was doing just fine with the previous one.

I wanted the best for him. So, yeah, no regrets dragging him for a second time just for that 20% CD reduction.

Zhongli's quest is good, but Childe's quest will always be my favorite.

Fun fact: the first time he died more than 3 times was during his quest where we had to fight the Fatui and I didn't realize the Childe I had was swapped with the Trial one.

I get it that there are probably people who got better stat and set for him than mine, but for now, he's more than enough for my team.

Man had to get benched for daily commissions bc he got lvl 10 friendship already.

The way Childe never died on me even when he got shitty artifacts and Lv. 1 bow.

If you say anything about him being a bad 5* I'll be more than happy to deck you. Oh you had troubles with his long ass CD? Guess you have to start calculating during battles then.
