I understand the motivation, but when you call out police unions for being the source of the problem, thousands of Democratic politicians who oversee, fund, and negotiate those police union contracts breathe a sigh of relief.

They bust K-12 unions, freeze city workers wages, and let cops literally get away with murder. Not because they’re union, but because they’re cops.

Dismantle this system with whatever it takes. But don’t let politicians off the hook by claiming the union has superpowers.

This isn’t a defense of police unions. What’s wrong with cop unions is that they’re police — they are the muscle of the ruling class and their unions are thus the ruling class pretending to “bargain” with itself. The police part, not the union part, is the heart of the problem.
