if you have one of those weird, reservedly gleeful reaction to the lower efficacy of the Chinese vaccine(s) I do in fact think you're a bad person

a lot of it seems to stem from mass hysteria over vaccine diplomacy, which like if it's so worrying, we *could* compete in vaccine diplomacy, but we don't because that would involve donating to... POOR nations lol fuck that am i right ladies

anyways is it ridiculous China is hellbent on avoiding the phrase "not high" wrt efficacy and whatnot (and suppressing reference to Gao Fu's comments)? sure. but if you get schadenfreude from that fact as like, a sign of US Ingenuity/beating the Chinese I think it's super weird!

(and actually I don't think the sensitivity around phrases like that would be at all unique to China, if anything the more ridiculous bullshit was that spate of spurious reporting on deaths linked to western vaccines from state media and the global times)
