Since PM Trudeau came to power in 2015 Canada's annual greenhouse gas emissions have increased by 10 million tonnes annually, from 720 million tonnes in 2015 to 730 million tonnes in 2019, according to gov't data released Monday. We are now EXACTLY where we were in 2005. #cdnpoli
During their first term in office, Trudeau and then environment minister Catherine McKenna repeatedly promised Canadians that by 2020, Canada's annual emissions would be 17% below 2005 levels, or 606 million tonnes, not 730 million tonnes in 2019.
Here is the year by year data showing that Canada's emissions have increased by 127 million tonnes annually, or 21%, between 1990 (603 million tonnes) & 2019 (730 million tonnes), the latest year for which government figures are now available.

Wait a minute. This year's report has retroactively changed Canada's emissions in 2015 to 723 million tonnes, not the 720 million tonnes for 2015 cited in last year's report. So the new claim is emissions have gone up 7 million tonnes since Trudeau took power, not 10 million.
All of this is of course totally believable and makes perfect sense. 🤣
