So how does it feel to be a black person right now?
A thread...
• You are upset and triggered and dont want to talk about another black man killed by cops

• You feel guilty for not saying anything

• So you do, but you re-traumatize yourself and others
• You lose focus on what you were going to do (ironically for me, write a book chapter on diversity in neurology!)

• You want to reach out to friends to vent, show support, but may re-traumatize them/trigger them when they want to disconnect. Maybe you do, maybe you don’t.
•You disconnect because you still need to go to work

•Wake up and go to work with a big smile, only to experience racism at work, or for someone to ask you to be the representative for every black person, and also teach them (and the organization) on how to be antiracist
• You get upset again and the cycle repeats

• You feel guilty of feeling/sharing joy

•You are emotionally wiped out

This was a 2020 recount. But, here we are, again, because nothing has changed 😒
