the problem with autoimmune diseases is that they are invisible. their symptoms are easy to brush off as nothing or “unexplainable.” some symptoms include:
-joint pain
-inflammation
-abdominal pain
-skin problems
-neurological problems/struggles communicating
-fatigue
-numbness/tingling in hands and feet
-fingers/toes get cold really fast
-muscle aches
-physical bodily flare up, mental or emotional flare up
-swollen/sore/stiff ankles
-headaches
-way too many other things to list
the main problem i see is that people go to the doctor for these issues and doctors don’t know what’s going on or say nothing is wrong. even though doctors know about autoimmune diseases, they do not test for them. you have to ask or some doctor has to think it’s worth it.
Ask for a Full comprehensive ANA panel. It’s an extensive blood test for these diseases. Or go to a rheumatologist! Especially if you are a female and/or a person of color! I believe autoimmune diseases are very very common but again, aren’t being tested for.
if you wake up with joint pain or aches routinely, get it. if your hands & feet go green/numb fast in the cold.. get one. lots of headaches.. get one. if you have bad inflammatory acne and /or abdominal pain.. i would get a test. these symptoms are most prevalent for me.
