I'd love to have a column on home culture with an editor that I meet for lunch sometimes. It'd be great to not cobble together a writing career from different platformed communities I build from scratch. And I wish I knew how to pitch as well as I know how to write.

But a lot of us do not have deals or staff jobs. We're middle class creators. The generosity I've gotten from writers like @annehelen has given me hope for the future of creators like me. She's shared insights + my work. She didn't have to do either.

We can figure out something that has accountability and lacks gatekeeping. I imagine it'll be a mix of personal brands and publications. Any solution that swings too far to exclusively personal brand or to exclusively legacy publication is worrisome. 6/
