(1/?) I don't tweet much but when I do it's usually not about stuff like this. For anyone who doesn't pay attention to this stuff, I'm going to use this thread to bring light to the events of the past 24 hours as well as other major issues going-
(2/?) on in the world. Yesterday in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota a black man by the name of Daunte Right was killed "accidentally" after being pulled over. The officer claims to have meant to tase him, but instead pulled out and fired her gun, fatally wounding him. This case has-
(3/?) already been ruled as a homicide and the officer in question put on leave, but no announcement regarding trial yet. A black army officer was also pulled over in Virginia, threatened with guns, and pepper-sprayed. It was dark and in a secluded area, police claimed they used-
(4/?) excessive force because he did not pull over when asked, even though it was fully within his rights to get to somewhere better lit and populated before stopping so that an incident just like this one would not take place. Unfortunately, his efforts were clearly in vain,-
(5/?) but he is now suing for this incident. Today in Knoxville, Tennessee at Austin-East Magnet High School one man died during a school shooting. All of these have happened within the past 24 hours. We must stop the mistreatment of African-Americans and enforce stricter gun-
(6/?) laws to prevent the frequent atrocities we see in America. I will continue this thread to talk about other issues in the U.S. and the world. Following up on the last one, I'd like to first specifically shine the light on gun violence. I feel sick knowing mass shootings are-
(7/?) how we know that things are returning to normal. Shootings like the spas in Atlanta, the office in California, and even the King Soopers in Bouler, CO. a mere ~45 minutes from where I live show that we NEED better gun laws in our country. We can't leave this up to the-
(8/?) states to decide by their own jurisdiction, we need a federal bill to pass through the legislative and executive branches to provide security to the American people. Of course, I can't ignore with specifically the Atlanta shooting the clearly implied racial motivation-
(9/?) against Asians. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, racism and xenophobia against Asians have increased exponentially. I've seen Asian CHILDREN I know from school get rocks thrown at them. I am absolutely disgusted with this development and anyone who turns a-
(10/?) blind eye at it. Moving towards worldwide issues, many people are still unaware of the slaughter of Uighur Muslims in Chinese "reeducation camps." These camps are comparable to those of the holocaust, forcing Muslims to discard their traditions, eat pork, and more. They-
(11/?) are physically and mentally abused for their religion when they are not harming anyone. I hope there can be international intervention to stop the torture of innocent Muslim peoples. I'll not forget to mention the humanitarian crises of Venezuela and Yemen, where millions-
(12/?) starve each day. There has been negligible international relief to assist these countries, and we need to bring awareness to them so they can be better helped. To preface the next issue, notice the device you are reading this tweet on. There is a 100% chance that device-
(13/?) makes use of the element cobalt. 70% of the world's cobalt is mined in the African country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Only 15-30% of these mining operations are small-scale and humane, with the overwhelming majority being caused by outsourcing from western-
(14/?) nations. The people who work in these mines face just as horrible conditions as garment workers in developing countries like Haiti and Bangladesh. As context, efficiency was prioritized so far over worker safety that in 2013 a garment factory collapsed and killed over-
(15/?) 1,000 people in the Rana Plaza in Dhaka. The disregard of people must be put to an end and we must find more humane and sustainable methods to satiate our society's needs. For now, this will be my last tweet, but if there are other issues you would like to be added,-
(16/?) please direct message me the topic and I promise to look into it and add it. If you have read this far, thank you so much, and please boost this as much as you can so others can be educated.
