Eventually the goal should be complete abolition. Until we get there, we have to get police out of traffic enforcement as quickly as we can. No pretext stops; consider (but don't uncritically accept) speed/red light cams; build streets and communities that don't need enforcement.

I'm committed to this work in Madison. It's going to be rocky and difficult and we may fail, but we also have a real opportunity, with Vision Zero and other traffic safety efforts going on already.
