My husband was a cop in Philly during the 70’s & 80’s.
He was involved in more high stress situations than I even know about.
He had knives pulled on him, guns fired at him, a shotgun pointed at his head misfire, and on and on.
And he never, ever shot and killed anyone.

Full disclosure, I was never a fan of cops. When my husband and I met I was very liberal. My hubs was a republican and a cop. Talk about opposites attract. My first words to him were how much I despised cops. I developed respect for them though, as I got to know him.

After being together for 38 years, hubs is no longer a republican; he’s as disgusted by police culture as I was back then; he is ashamed at times to admit he was a cop.
And he thinks cops today need to be better vetted and trained.
