Lots of messages today but the one saying the vaccine was being "wasted" on me was a bit much.

I don't think it even came from a place of hatred but still.

There isn't a day where I don't come across some sort of ableism on this app whether institutionally or
Just from...anyone. It's as natural as breathing for some.

Disability aside, my job is definitely. privileged as an administrator. And I love it. I love what I get to do.

I also spent 2020 in teaching in the postal code with *the* highest positivity rate in the province and
Iive in another "top ten" postal code.

I refuse to name the numerous ways the virus will destroy me to justify this.

But this is EXACTLY why more vulnerable populations should have been prioritized including Black and racialized people. Esp. Those w/o jobs or steady income.
Because of decisions of this government, it's going to be easier for hospitals to turn away ppl like me from ICUs in favour of you because you're "healthy".

I won't be a martyr for the racism and ableism that's in our health and edu systems from top to bottom.
Disabled and other marginalized communities have been yelling for months and so many shrugged until it came to their doorstep.

That was *on top of* ableist (and racist) policies they were already fighting before COVID.

We're going to get vaxxed and disabled people will still
die because people can't see some of our issues as urgent.

Anyway. I like to think I have a "thick skin" but retraumatizing nonsense is still retraumatizing.
