Memory is really creepy, by the way

So hear me out

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers ran on television when I was literally an infant

And though people remember the show pretty well, I remember when I was growing up, feeling like it was a ghost. It just didn't seem to ever run on any channel I had. It just disappeared

I honestly don't think I ever say any episode of the show ever broadcast

But I had a VHS tape of just the first two episodes, I have no idea where I got it

And like any toddler in the nineties with a VHS tape, I watched it quite a lot and then never watched it again I guess

Never really had any inclination to, haven't thought much about it

*thought* I remembered virtually nothing about that show or those two episodes

But that show is on Disney+ and on a whim I decided to watch a bit

Which is how I found out my old tape had the first two episodes

And what I find really disturbing is how much of it is still in my brain after three decades of dormancy

Nothing coherent, like I had no idea what the *plots* of these episodes were and I probably never did

But visual stuff, various swells of the musical score, character lines

it's always just... been in there

flashes of Zipper the housefly eating a rotten cherry

Monterey Jack trying to free the chipmunks from a glass bottle with a claw hammer

It's all *there*, like vaguely recalling a dream

Nothing ever cleared any of that shit out
