We need to talk about a major problem, Virginia. Namely: Many rural folks are having a hard time getting vaccines in their own communities. This is because getting appointments largely depends on internet access. 1/4
Urban/suburban Virginians (who often can't get appointments in their own communities but have great internet access) jump on rural appointments that actual residents haven't even seen are available yet... because our internet is terrible. So we lose our vaccines to outsiders. 2/4
I've been seeing urban and suburban Virginians justify this by arguing that appointments are only available in rural communities because rural folks "don't believe in vaccines." But that's not the case at all: we just can't respond to the few vacancies we have as fast as you. 3/4
I'll close by saying that I am genuinely not trying to shame anyone here. I think this is a case of a lot of people lacking the proper context of what we're dealing with out here in rural communities. But now you know. It's a problem, and it should stop. 4/4
