daunte wright was a 20 year old black man who was shot and killed after being pulled over for having hanging air fresheners (having anything hanging from your rearview mirror is a violation that is rarely enforced due to hanging parking passes and handicap passes that would+
technically violate this law) in his rearview mirror. it was only after he pulled over that any warrants were discovered and even then, it is entirely unlawful to kill someone just because they have a warrant. with newly released information, the chief of police in brooklyn+
center deemed the shooting an "accidental discharge" because the officer meant to deploy their taser instead. this is something that is most likely bullshit as officers are trained to know which side their taser and firearm are, and you would immediately be able to tell if you+
grabbed the wrong one. this situation was intentional. the officers knew what they were doing from the moment they pulled wright over to the moment they left his body sitting in the street hours past his death. in the event of an officer pulling someone over for a traffic+
violation and then discovering a warrant for their arrest, there is NOTHING that states they are free to KILL the person, even if they resist arrest. daunte wright deserved the right to a fair trial just like anyone else. found guilty or otherwise, in no case should he have been+
killed. say his name. don& #39;t let his death just be another number to the countless black lives that have been taken due to police brutality and the racist system.
