The recent passage of legalization bills in New York and New Mexico has dominated the headlines when it comes to developments in drug policy, but it's important to also remember we have successfully been able to defeat legalization in five states so far in this year alone.
The most important work for SAM and our supporters begins in New Mexico and New York now.

In New York, towns and cities have a short window of nine months to implement opt-out provisions to ban marijuana storefronts and other industry action in their communities.
If you live in New York, New Mexico, or frankly any other state where marijuana has been legalized, be sure you have downloaded our free, comprehensive toolkit to help implement local control over Big Pot.

Now, let's move on to some more recent developments.
Corry points out that the industry now effectively runs the state of Colorado and its so-called "regulators" pass from government jobs to industry jobs on a daily basis.

He also endorses a new bill led by Representative Yadira Caraveo to implement potency caps.
An explosive study published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics found that teenage marijuana users have double the prevalence of a use disorder (addiction) than nicotine, alcohol, and, in most categories of users, even prescription drug misusers.
