Thread on #gracelifechurch and the @ERLC...

I see all the calls for the ERLC to say something in support of GraceLife, but notice something else.

They aren't saying anything in support of GraceLife but neither are they saying anything in condemnation of them either.
At least the Unitarian Church down the street from GraceLife had enough conviction to proudly wave their beastly allegiance around in condemnation of their faithful neighbors.

Our "leaders" won't even do that.

They are avoiding going on record here...
What does this tells us about not only the ERLC but all those institutional voices who likewise will not address this pivotal moment in evangelical history, one way or the other?

Especially when so many local pastors, who's livelihoods are always on the line, have done so.
It tells you these are not men of conviction but rather men of cowardice and compromise.

Political men, constantly weighing their words based upon how they will be received by this or that audience.

"If we say this then... If we say that then..." sounds familiar.
There is room for being as wise as a serpent and as gentle as a dove, or for not giving unnecessary offense for the purpose of achieving an audience for the gospel, to become all things to all people so that the gospel can be proclaimed.

Strategy in itself isn't sin.
but such posturing is not for times when the truth--and the body of Christ tasked with proclaiming that truth--are under direct assault from the civil magistrate.

These men are not leading one way or the other at the exact moment they need to. They are neither hot or cold.
Let us pray that the Lord spit them out of their office and place of influence within the SBC and evangelicalism as a whole in June at the annual meeting.

2021 will be a pivotal year for not only the SBC but the future of evangelicalism as a whole.
The end.
