I am VERY excited to hear @NCAA publicly announce they are pulling championship games from states with anti-trans laws, which is a direct violation of the NCAA anti-discrimination statement.
“When determining where championships are held, @NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination should be selected.”

If you have an anti-trans sports bill, YOU ARE NOT IT.
I’m actually most excited to see lawmakers have to decide just how much they hate trans people. ...Will they try to see if hating high school trans students is okay? Can they discriminate against just the young ones? What CAN they get away with? 🧐
The @NCAA is late to the game here (at least publicly - folks have known they will pull championships for some time).

After all this “monitoring,” four states have already passed anti-trans sports bills... in large part because of the silence from NCAA.
Arkansas, Mississippi, and South Dakota - 3 of the 4 states with new anti-trans sports laws - all mention college athletes.

All of them could have been stopped if @ncaa spoke up earlier.

They deserve to lose their games - and the money it brings.
I’m looking forward to seeing Gov Noem try to scrap her college Executive Order & maintain her high school one - what will happen?! Will that count?
I’ll be particularly thrilled to see Texas drop bills (today’s testimony is atrocious) or lose allllllll of these championship in the next few years ✌️😎
Arkansas deserves NOTHING with their relentless attacks on trans people.

SIDE NOTE: I will be excited for @usacycling to take action here as well.
Oh!! Don’t forget Idaho!
Some people were like, “If NCAA pulls championships from these states, there will be very few states to go to.” That is correct.

But fortunately, California is a wonderful place to play. Enjoy.

(And there are many other states as well)
Don’t forget: NCAA recently held a summit on gender identity where it was discussed at length how we care for trans student athletes. How we prioritize the well being of the student.

That message took a long time to get to the Board of Governors...
And if you’ve made it this far - the NCAA statement is absolutely not enough: not strong enough, fast enough, or clear enough. They are awful at statements.
