short thread on #SB467. If you follow California folk, you are seeing lots of tweets on it. What is it? Simply THE MOST GROUNDBREAKING CLIMATE BILL EVER.
#sb467 will do 3 things: create 2500' setbacks from oil wells to people's homes; ban fracking and manage the decline of California's powerful oil industry; and provide for a just transition for oil workers.

That's a lot to unpack, so let's talk about each one.
1st, public health. It's simple: when you live next to an oil well, you get sick. Many states including Texas have setback requirements. California has none.
2,500 feet can be the difference between cancer, endless hospital visits, and medical bills - & a life w/o them. It's time to phase out dangerous drilling and put 2500 ft between oil and gas wells and our homes, schools, hospitals. #YESonSB467 Read more: http://bit.ly/SB467now
But that's not all! And here's where #SB467 gets really interesting. It started off as a call to ban fracking. You know, like in the @ca_dem platform, and some Presidential candidates want, and more.
but California oil wells aren't just fracked. They're cyclic-steam-injected. They're acid-injected. They're steam--and-water-flooded. More. All of which uses up our water and makes our people sick. #SB467
Our opponents accuse us of wanting to END OIL DRILLING IN CALIFORNIA ALTOGETHER -- a managed decline of an industry.

So we're owning it. YES, #SB467 will ultimately phase out oil drilling in California entirely.

That's a BFD.
and the authors of #SB467 have smartly amended the bill to give timetables for that managed decline.
Now, the coal industry has ended or is ending, in an unmanaged way, throughout the US, and it's leaving communities hurting. #SB467 will not do that. And that brings us to the 3d point: $$$.
Specifically, #SB467 will fund a just transition for oil workers. You live in Kern County, tired of breathing in the fumes and hugging your baby with oil-stained hands? #SB467 will find a way out for you.
of course, the bosses of the oil workers are freaking out and treating #SB467 as THE END OF THE WORLD.

First hearing tomorrow.
On April 13 -- TOMORROW -- we need @hertzieLA @SenateHertzberg @BenHueso @SenBenHueso @SenJohnLaird @SenSusanEggman @SusanEggman to vote #YesonSB467.

The Democratic majority needs to act like Democrats.
So now you know everything about #Sb467. Let's do this, folk. Thread, ended.
