This thread will outline the critical importance of pro-UK voters using tactical voting in constituency seats. Far too much time has been spent arguing about list votes and seats. It’s important to remember the SNP can win a majority without needing to win a single list seat. (1)
As a reminder, the constituency seats won by each party in the 2016 Holyrood election were as follows:

SNP 59
Conservative 7
Lib Dem 4
Labour 3

The SNP won over 80% of constituency seats. But the number of constituency votes obtained by each party is fascinating. (2)
These were the total numbers of constituency votes won by each party in 2016:

SNP 1,059,958
Labour 514,261
Conservative 501,844
Lib Dem 178,238

With just over a million votes, the SNP won 59 constituency seats. With 1,200,000 votes, pro-UK parties won 14 constituency seats (3)
In May, the Conservatives, Labour and LibDem candidates are each fielding their own candidates in all 73 constituencies. The 3 parties are fighting against each other in every seat, even though the SNP is guaranteed around 45% of the vote. This is a recipe for certain failure (4)
The main pro-UK parties have refused to work together by standing down candidates in seats they cannot win. That means it falls on voters to select the candidate with the best chance of defeating the SNP in each seat, while the party leaders hurl insults at one another. (5)
The only party which has produced a plan to address this is @Alliance4Unity. Our tactical voting guide tells voters the candidate with the most realistic chance of defeating the SNP in every constituency. An updated version of the voting guide will be published very soon. (6)
It is vital to see through the ludicrous posturing of the main parties and their press lapdogs. Respected journalists have spread lies and smears to discredit A4U; the one party which is encouraging pro-UK voters to vote for other parties. Please remember this on May 6th. (End)
