When US military forces engaged in combat abroad exercise greater concern for the lives of enemy combatants than do police forces in the US supposedly serving and protecting their fellow citizens, we have an existential crisis. https://twitter.com/RealBootyEater/status/1381672492805328899
We prosecute soldiers - line and command - for war crimes and violations of the rules of engagement. Why do we expect less accountability of our police forces who have a monopoly of violence against Americans than we do of soldiers set to inflict violence against foreigners?
Should not the standard of behavior and accountability be HIGHER for police who use violence against American citizens, even when such force is justified, not lower than that of soldiers on a field of battle?
And for the random "back the blue" who will come onto this thread somehow...

Accountability does not mean a lack of support. Accountability is the mechanism for societal support. If you cannot deal with that, do not be a police officer (or a member of the armed forces)
