I have a friend who told me clearly that he doesn't work with Nigerians. And that's because of the few things I'll be listing in this thread.

You cannot be offering N500 for 1k words and think you're a good person. You're wicked.

Please rt. I wan talk.
If you work with freelancers/creatives regularly, here are some things you should know:
1) GOOD WORK DESERVES GOOD PAY.

Someone recently reached out to me to write a 10k-word project. He offered 15,000. I was really pissed, but I calmly rejected the job. He blocked me.

Nigerians have a mentality: "is it not just to write? I can do it myself now"

Well, do it đŸ‘đŸŸ
2) Keep that "exposure" payment in your pocket if you are not dropping money along with it.

I don't think any Nigerian will go on Fiverr and promise a seller to pay them with exposure. So, why are you doing it to young Nigerian creatives?
So many Nigerians like to oppress struggling creatives. You'll offer insanely wicked prices because you know the creatives probably don't have other options. And then, you'll proceed to stress the hell out of them, promising better jobs. Please, pay people well.
3) Normalize commending creatives when they do well.

If a creative has done a good job, commend them. You will not die. Sometimes, the comments even pays better than the pay. Everyone wants to feel appreciated. So, when you see someone who has really worked their ass...
...off for you, appreciate them. Add an extra amount if you can. The creative isn't the only one who should be building relationships, as a client, you should too.
4) A freelancer/creative is not your slave.

You don't call people by 11pm and expect them to deliver a 3000-word highly researched article by 3am. Same for designers. Creatives are not machines. They are humans like you, privileged to have the creativity to lack. Dignify them.
5) Pay attention to the creatives.

I always try to call my clients when I'm working on their projects. You don't give a creative a job and just disappear. And a few days to the deadline, you come with one mad pressure disturbing the creative.
6) It is true that for many freelancers/creatives, there is no money on the ground. But, I promise you, there is crazy on the ground.

Pay creatives as early as you can especially when a good job is done.
Thanks.
