I see my timeline is erupting on the "air freshener" nonsense, and just so you know, this has been going on for a very long time. Air fresheners/fabric softener in cars... the claim is that people have those to confuse drug sniffing dogs.
Your reminder that if cops claim that everyday activities are potentially suspicious, they can go after anyone if they feel like it.
Okay apparently it is a different, but still incredibly bad, broken windows argument--conclusion stays the same but reason why they're effectively criminalizing an everyday thing remains the same. https://twitter.com/emilyyy_says/status/1381661830368534531?s=20
That being said, if this is an actual law, we really need to go after state legislatures that criminalize, even to a tiny degree, everyday, normal behavior because that shit is demonstrably murder.
Just remember that allowing cops to impose a $2 fine allows cops to stop people, and that additional stop will have a cost in lives.
