#ramadanmubarak
I've been thinking how Ramadan reminds/reconnects me to parts of #abolition practice & transformative justice:Â
1. The underlying function of Ramadan isnt deprivation/absence of food/water. Its actually bout building meaningful presence (to what sustains)1/4

Drawing attention to what we need, what contributes to it.
2. Its about disrupting whats presumed/established as 'norm' thru re-orientation (switching night & day to be in spiritual practice). Challenging what is assumed/ constructed by our habits & reality we are shaping 2/4

3. Month-long emphasises we build cultures thru practicing of new habits. Time is essential to practice new ways, its not achieved over night.
4. Community care is essential. Sharing, communal prayers/ritual are experiental ways of coming together & literally moving together 3/4

5. Being dynamic & understanding positionality- multiple ways ppl can participate/not participate in Ramadan w/ sickness, age, travel, menstruation etc.
6.Embodying Liberation-connecting to our body's capacities (edges/boundaries/discomfort/ease/rest. Helps inhabit our bodies.
