Ugadi Background –
Ugadi in other words known to be as “Yugadi” – Yuga means “Era” and Adi means “Beginning”. This all started when Krishna left to his abode. The festival marks the new beginning for those living between Kaveri & Vindhyas & for those who follow lunar calendar.

We have vedavyas quoting “Yesmin Krishno Divamvyataha, Tasma Eeva Pratipannam Kaliyugam”.

The lunar calendars do have a cycle of sixty years & the new year Ugadi/Yugadi begins at Chaitra Sudhdha Paadyami. It is believed that the creator – Brahma has started creation on this day.

On this day we have people offer neem flowers with mixed jagary to the presiding deity of their respective houses.
